Exploring The Whitianga Beach Scene
Perhaps my favourite part of my stay in Whitianga was the exploration of the local beaches. These beaches are largely unexplored by tourists who mainly head for Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach which are just a short distance away. However, on the recommendation of my fantastic and knowledgeable hostel owner, I headed out in the rental car to these beautiful hidden beaches. Yes, it was raining and yes, it was cold. But even the weather could not take the beauty out of these beaches.
Here are a select few of my favourite photos. I hope you enjoy!
But my absolute favourite photo from Whitianga?
This rather photogenic bird that was seemingly posing for me whilst I took a photo of the spectacular mountain ranges and cloud formations.
Don’t you just love New Zealand?
Whitianga is located on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island in the Coromandel Peninsula.
Disclaimer: This post was written way back in March 2013 when I was still on my year abroad in Australia. I recently rediscovered my old blog and wanted to keep some of the more memorable posts so I will be replicating them on this blog – because good memories are fab. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed finding them again!
