15 Photos of Ottawa To Inspire You to Visit
More often that not, destinations make it onto my ‘to visit’ list because I’ve seen some beautiful photos shared somewhere on social media. So in the hope that I can inspire similar wanderlust in someone, here are my top 15 photos of Ottawa that will hopefully show you why you should seriously consider a trip to Canada’s capital city.
I hope you fall in love with it as much as I did!
15 PHOTOS OF OTTAWA TO INSPIRE YOU TO VISIT
ONE // The Parliament of Canada lit up for the Northern Lights show
This annual sound and light show takes place every night during the summer months in Ottawa and is completely free. Don’t miss it!
TWO // A view of the Parliament of Canada from Major’s Hill Park.
Major’s Hill Park is a great place for stroll throughout the year and always offers great views of the Parliament buildings and the Peace Tower.
THREE // Major’s Hill Park during the Tulip Festival
Tulip season is a great time to visit this park in the city centre.
FOUR // The Rideau Canal Locks
A lovely place to sit and explore in the sunshine. If you go left in this photo there is also a lovely walking and cycle path along the waterfront to check out.
FIVE // Byward Market
These steps with a cool maple leaf mural connect Major’s Hill park with the Byward Market – both excellent places to explore in Ottawa.
SIX // The Canadian Museum of Nature
Located in one of Ottawa’s most iconic buildings, this museum is a great way to spend a few hours. Especially if you have kids! And yes, that is a giant inflatable jellyfish hanging from the ceiling.
SEVEN // Maman: The Giant Spider
This 30ft spider is located next to the National Gallery of Canada and makes a pretty cool photo opportunity.
EIGHT // Beaver Tails
These tasty Canadian treats are a must-try when in Canada and what better place to try them than at the company’s very first store?
NINE // The Rideau Canal in spring
A lovely walkway to explore at any time of the year but particularly lovely in spring when all the blossoms and tulips appear.
TEN // Gatineau Park
Just a short drive from the city, Gatineau Park is a great place to explore the great outdoors.
ELEVEN // The Changing of the Guard
Taking place every day during the summer months, the changing of the guard outside of the Parliament of Canada is a must watch.
TWELVE // Parliament of Canada
The views of Parliament from across the Ottawa River (and outside the Canadian Museum of History) are pretty great.
THIRTEEN // The Canadian Museum of History
A short stroll across the Alexandra Bridge takes you to another of Ottawa’s cultural attractions and gives you some pretty great views at the same time.
FOURTEEN // The Parliament of Canada ft. The Peace Tower
Don’t forget to check out the impressive architecture of these buildings!
FIFTEEN // Sunset over Lake Meech
Catch a sunset whilst exploring the lakes of Gatineau Park. You won’t be disappointed!
And there you have it. Fifteen of my favourite photos taken in and around Ottawa that will hopefully inspire you to visit this wonderful city to explore all it has to offer.
